BAD Customer Service!

An unsatisfied customer, Sarah, received a nasty letter in response to her complaint to a movie theatre from the Vice President of the entertainment business, Steven Payne. This email he enclosed consisted of him rudely telling her off and “to go f*** herself.” I was deeply appalled by how unprofessional and rude this comment was. I don’t understand how anybody could possibly think it would be okay to respond to a customer, no matter how rude they may come off to be, in such an immature way and get away with it. Within his response, he considered her email a joke, but if her email was such a joke, why not just ignore it and move on? Why not sit on it instead of speaking out so inappropriately? Once he realized the damaged he had done, he tried to apologize in a following email but it was too late to take it back.

Nobody in their right mind would let the entire situation go after receiving a vulgar and degrading email from such a higher authority of a company. Therefore, I think it's completely acceptable that the customer lashed back by creating a Facebook group, called BOYCOTT St. Croix Falls Cinema 8, to spread awareness to the public about how unprofessional both the movie theatre and the V.P. are. Facebook is one of the most popular social networking websites, and is a great way to get the word out fast through viral marketing.

I recently came across a similar fan page like this, called “I Hate Bronze Body & Brew and Want My Money Back!” The owner of this tanning salon scammed hundreds of customers in Whitewater out of their money as they were encouraged to stock up on tans just days before he up and left town. I don’t think Facebook executives would have any reason to disapprove of fan pages like these. Such poor customer service deserves to be broadcasted to spread awareness of how unprofessional these businesses are and what people should avoid.

  1. I also came across the similar fan page about Bronze Body & Brew. It's great to see how some companies take advantage of and disrespect their customers but finally it comes back to them and the karma pays them back.

  2. I honestly think using facebook for boycott groups and such is an extreme waste and is just for people looking for attention. I'm sorry but stuff like this happens on a minute to minute basis, but only people who make stuff like this get recognized.

  3. I completely agree. I want to know if places are professional or not. I do not want to support a company that steal your money or tell you to go f*** yourself. Sure it may be about the attention, but if someone said that to me of stole hundreds of dollars from me, I'm pretty sure I would do that too so people would not support that company.

  4. I am one of the many victims of Bronze Body and Brew and thanks to a fellow classmate was introducted to a boycott fan page. I think I am going to confront the issue personally this weekend, for I have already called numerous times and got either a "disconnected phone" or no answer. I didnt just get ripped out of a few tans, I had literally just purchased a huge $100 package only a month ago. So I am not going to just let this go, I dont see myself writing a lettter telling them to Fuck off though haha but I am not settling for less. It really saddens me though that there are people and company s like this who treat us as consumers with such disgrace, it makes you think who is really honest. It makes us question the true genuine companies who are actually good because of all the bad around us!

  5. I also posted a link to the tanning salon fanpage and I think what he did was almost worse then what the VP of the movie theater did. He did crazy sales right before he sold the company and didn't tell anyone and then he dipped out and took the computers so the new owners were unaware of all these angry customers. I also think the email the VP sent was way out of line and that the apology letter was only sent because he realized how bad he messed up. It was a little to late though.

  6. Not only are is facebook a great tool for consumers to use to talk about unfair treatment but its a good way for companies to find out about these employees. I feel that facebook effects these companies only to the extent they allow it. If the theater company for instance would have went on the page and appoogized perhaps took into consideration a lot of what is being said by the angry customers they could have learned from the experience and make necessary changes.
